Access panel that doesn’t look cheap?
I hate how most access panels scream “ugly utility patch” on the wall. Need one for the laundry room to reach the water lines. Something that can take several coats of paint and disappear into the wall as much as possible. Plastic or metal? Any that aren’t flimsy?

You’re right—lots of the cheap ones look terrible even after painting. I prefer the thicker plastic versions over super-thin metal ones because they don’t dent as easily and they don’t rust in damp areas. The one I used last has a slightly textured surface that holds primer and paint really well. After two coats it basically vanished into the white wall. Size was 8×8 but they make bigger ones too. I ordered a very sturdy access panel for drywall and was surprised how professional it looked once installed and painted. Just make sure the frame sits tight so there’s no shadow line around the edges.
